Effective March 28, 2020 at 5:00pm, the Alabama Department of Public Health has ordered all “non-essential” businesses that cannot maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet between persons be closed until at least April 17, 2020 at 5:00pm. This order includes all barber shops, hair salons, waxing salons, threading salons, nail salons and spas, body-art and tattoo studios, tanning salons, and massage-therapy and massage services.
On April 3, 2020, the ADPH issued an additional order extending the date that all close-contact businesses such as those listed above be closed until April 30, 2020.
On April 28, 2020, the ADPH issued a “safer at home” order, further extending the date that all close-contact businesses such as those listed above remain closed until May 15, 2020 at 5:00pm.
On May 8, 2020, the ADPH amended the “safer at home” order, allowing close-contact businesses to open as of May 11, 2020, with restrictions. These additional guidelines can be found here:

Shops and salons are required to follow the guidelines included in both the Safeguarding All Businesses flyer and the Close Contact Businesses flyer.
Local governments may impose more stringent requirements in order to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
