The state of Alabama recognizes two classes of barbers, Class 1 and Class 2.
A Class 1 barber only Shaves or trims the beard or trims the hair. Class 1 barbers are not regulated by the Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering.
Class 2 barbers shave or trim the beard, cut or dress the hair, give facial or scalp massages with or without oils or creams or other preparations made for that purpose, hair care with the use of chemicals, which includes cutting and styling.
