Proposed Administrative Rule Changes
The Board Members approved the following proposed rule changes at the July 29, 2024, board meeting. Comments may be submitted in writing by October 4, 2024, 5:00 PM to PO Box 301750, Montgomery, AL 36130.
Chapter 250-X-4-.01 Requirements:
(2) Apprentices must train in a shop licensed by the Board under a licensed sponsor in the appropriate field who holds the same type license. whose name is designated on their application.
- Clarifies that the sponsor must hold the same type license as opposed to the “appropriate” license.
(17) A person is allowed to hold an apprentice permit complete an apprenticeship only one time per an apprenticeship type.
- Clarifies that the apprentice cannot apprentice again in the same field if the apprenticeship has been completed.
(18) An apprentice may have a primary sponsor and additional secondary sponsors. All sponsors must meet the requirements outlined in Code of Ala. 1975, Section 34-7B-16. At least one sponsor must be present at all times when the apprentice is performing services.
(19) The primary sponsor is responsible for maintaining and submitting apprentice hours to the Board. The names of all secondary sponsors should be included on the apprentice attendance records and a copy of all attendance records should be maintained in the shop.
